‘Blind Side’ rejected by ‘key Christian retailers’ Print Email

The DVD release of The Blind Side was made available to "key Christian retailers," but the blockbuster inspirational film was rejected due to some of its content, according to the movie's main distributor in the Christian retail channel.

Word Distribution representatives spoke about the offer as they responded to criticism for distributing the movie to the Christian retail channel only through Family Christian Stores (FCS)--and not via other chains or independent Christian bookstores.

CBA sells its headquarters Print Email

CBA has sold off its headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colo., though the retailers' association will stay on in the building as a tenant.

Announcing the sale, the organization said that it puts CBA in a stronger position to better serve members "through advocacy, events, competitive business solutions, industry publications and more." The name of the buyer and the purchase price were not disclosed.

Thomas Nelson enters music business Print Email

Hoping to "fill the void of a diminishing music industry," the world's largest Christian book publisher is getting into the music business.

The April 24 release of Women of Faith Worship--retailing for $13.99 and featuring 10 studio-recorded tracks by the Women of Faith (WoF) worship team--will be the first time Thomas Nelson will distribute music from its conference brand. The company purchased WoF in 2000, and has reported that the events--which also include Revolve teen conferences--comprise 20% of its annual operating budget.

Cooperation of Christian media groups welcomed Print Email

Leaders of Christian media organizations have welcomed the idea of closer cooperation, but have stopped short of embracing the suggestion of a new umbrella body to bring them all together.

Doug Ross, president emeritus of the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA), who headed that organization between 1988 and 2005, recently proposed the founding of the International Association of Christian Communicators (IACC) to bring together existing media groups.
