A division of Hachette Book Group USA, FaithWords has signed best-selling author and speaker Philip Yancey to a book deal, with the new title scheduled to be published in September 2010.

In the tentatively titled Traveling Words, Yancey returns to his theme of grace in a collection of stories--which will feature interplay between reader and writer.

State of the Industry report details ‘volatile’ year Print Email

Net sales at Christian retail stores fell almost 11% last year over 2007, according to CBA's annual State of the Industry report.

However, nearly a third of the more than 250 stores that took part in the survey reported sales volumes up in what the trade association described as a "volatile" year. Almost 7% of respondents said they had seen sales increases of more than 20%, as 61.5% indicated revenues were down.

Casa Creación continues SEPA Awards domination Print Email

Casa Creación again continued its dominance of the Spanish Evangelical Products Association (SEPA) Awards last night at the 17th annual Expolit convention in Miami, winning three of the six major trophies during the event. Last year, Casa Creación captured seven trophies, including three of the six major awards.

¡Cielo es tan real!, the Spanish translation of Heaven Is So Real by Choo Thomas (published in English by Charisma House in 2006), won the Harold Kregel 2008 Book of the Year award for "most inspiring and impactful book."

Inspired by the biblical story of Noah's ark, the DVD is the sequel to VeggieTales: Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Samson's Hairbrush, released by Big Idea in 2005.

Author’s ‘Bod Squad Petition’ to clothiers Print Email

altAuthor, speaker and modesty campaigner Dannah Gresh is gathering signatures for a petition urging clothing companies to tone down the styles they are creating for young girls.

The founder of Pure Freedom and Secret Keeper Girl ministries, Gresh hopes to collect more than 10,000 names for the "Bod Squad Petition" she plans to present this fall to the Council of Fashion Designers of America and the Apparel and Footwear Manufacturers Association.

Church Publishing ends mass-market publishing Print Email

altThe publishing arm of the U.S. Episcopal Church, Church Publishing Inc. (CPI), has announced that it will suspend mass-market publishing as part of several moves that it said will "strengthen its position as a denominational publisher of excellence in these times of economic travail."

New York City-based CPI will accelerate the release of several electronic products, but it will also end the publication of books for a general audience, Episcopal News Service (ENS) reported.

EPA convention features ‘Awards of Excellence’ Print Email

altThe Evangelical Press Association (EPA) convention presented its annual "Awards of Excellence" in Christian publishing in Indianapolis, May 6-8. The contest honored the best work done by EPA publications in 2008.

Sojourners took the award in the General category. Leadership won for Christian Ministries, and ECFA Today was named best Denominational publication. For the second year in a row, YouthWalk took the award in the Devotional category, and 6.8 Magazine for Missionary publications.
