‘Duck the Halls’ Christmas album debuts in Billboard top 5 Print Email

DuckTheHalls-RobertsonsThe Robertson family, stars of the No. 1 A&E reality TV show Duck Dynasty and collectively authors of four New York Times best-sellers, now have another accolade under their belts: a hit musical album. Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas (UMG Nashville/Capitol Christian Distribution), a Christmas album featuring the Duck Dynasty cast, debuted at No. 4 on the Nov. 16 edition of the Billboard 200 chart released Wednesday.

The album features old holiday favorites like “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” as well as new songs penned by the Robertson clan, including “Ragin’ Cajun Redneck Christmas” and “Hairy Christmas”—a singalong ode to the men’s iconic beards.

Upcoming film explores the ‘Irreplaceable’ importance of families Print Email

IrreplaceableScreenCap02Focus on the Family and Pine Creek Entertainment revealed the trailer for their upcoming film Irreplaceable at the Vatican in late October. The sneak peak was offered during the Pilgrimage of Families, which drew 150,000 visitors to the Eternal City for Pope Francis’ first summit on families.

The documentary, scheduled for a one-night theatrical release in spring 2014, follows one man’s journey to determine if traditional families are still relevant to our world. The documentary explores the importance of family with a diversity of experts who enlighten audiences on whether the concept of the traditional family is meaningful, or in fact outdated.

Book Club Network acquires Elk Lake Publishing Print Email

KathiMacias-webThe Book Club Network (TCBN) has acquired Elk Lake Publishing, a five-year old nonfiction publishing company, which will now be headquartered in Atlanta. TCBN also announced that author Kathi Macias has joined their staff as the senior vice president of acquisitions for the company’s planned fiction line, which will launch in early 2014.

KimJonesAndCameronRecordComposite-webKim Jones and Cameron Record have joined Kerusso as director of production operations and distribution manager, respectively. Both positions are new roles for the gifts, apparel and jewelry supply company.

“Kim was the owner and operator of J&J Graphic Solutions and has been operations manager for different apparel companies, while Cameron comes to us from National Home Centers Company as their production manager,” said Vic Kennett, founder and CEO of Kerusso. “Both demonstrate an eagerness to bring Kerusso to the next level, to reach even more people with the Gospel.”

Moody Publishers acquires WingSpread Publishers Print Email

MoodyWhiteLogo-webMoody Publishers acquired Camp Hills, Pa.-based WingSpread Publishers on Nov. 4. The acquisition brings another storied publishing house under the 117-year-old Moody umbrella.

The WingSpread division of now-former parent company Zur Ltd., also has a long history in publishing, starting as a missionary periodical in 1880 under the name The Gospel in All Lands. The company expanded and developed its line of publications to include books, and today has an extensive backlist of titles.  Of the 138 titles acquired by Moody, 57 were written by A.W. Tozer, from whose book, WingSpread, the company’s current iteration takes its name.

Kerusso-BigFaith-webChristian apparel, jewelry and gifts supplier Kerusso has unveiled two new Cherished Girl designs for early release. The tees feature bright colors and designs.

Kerusso introduced Cherished Girl last year, and the company says it has become very successful in stores.

ParableGroup-WebThe Parable Group announced the winning store of its Attend-a-Distribution-Trip-with-Operation-Christmas-Child contest. The winning store, Sounds of Light in Adrian, Mich., owned by Mary and Louis Schaap, will receive an all-expenses-paid, five-day trip to Barranquilla, Colombia, for two to distribute shoeboxes with Operation Christmas Child.

Applicant stores submitted photos and earned virtual tokens for their local OCC campaign. Virtual tokens could be earned for a variety of efforts, such as creating in-store displays, contacting churches, partnering with OCC area coordinators, ordering Hygiene-in-a-Bottle kits from Oodles World, posting on social media and hosting a shoebox-packing party. Sounds of Light was drawn Oct. 28 from a pool of more than 3,000 tokens.
