Casting Crowns is extending its Come to the Well tour into spring with an additional 44 dates, while the Newsboys embark on a 60-plus-stop tour this month. Two multi-artist tours—Winter Jam and the Rock & Worship Roadshow—also launch their nonticketed shows this month.

Multi-Platinum selling Casting Crowns follows up it successful fall tour—which included a string of sold-out performances, playing before more than 155,000 people—with singer/songwriter Matthew West, pop-rockers Royal Tailorand Christian music newcomer Lindsay McCaul,who was also in the fall tour lineup.

A day-of-release television interview boosted sales for a book warning of God’s impending judgment on America.

The Harbinger by Messianic rabbi Jonathan Cahn rose to number eight on Amazon’s best-seller list yesterday after he appeared on CBN’s The 700 Club to tell host Pat Robertson about the book’s message, which ties events since 9/11 to a prophecy in Isaiah. 9.

Media research leader Nielsen ranked Heaven Is for Real (Thomas Nelson) at No. 1 on its Top 10 Print Book Sales: Adult Nonfiction for 2011, while Day of War by Cliff Graham (Zondervan) topped the 2011 Lime Awards in fiction from The Christian Manifesto, an online review site.

Karen Kingsbury’s “Bailey Flanigan Series” continues to hold its own in this week’s Top 20 General best-sellers list from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA), tracking sales for the week ending Dec. 24, according to Pubtrack Christian data. The third book in the series tops the Fiction list and makes the General Top 20 at No. 13, while two others in the series fare well on the Fiction list.

The Munce Group is adding a special training session for would-be Christian store operators at its Christian Product Expo (CPE) next month.

The five-hour Prospective Retailer Training seminar Jan. 29 will be led by Robbie Halstead, owner and lead consultant at Kingdom Retail Solutions. He will speak about putting together a business plan, choosing the right inventory and balancing ministry and business.

Religious books print sales remain strong Print Email

Religious books were the only major print category for trade books to see sales growth this year in the U.S., according to the latest figures from the Association of American Publishers (AAP).

Religious book sales were up 12.4% in October over the same month last year, to $65.7 million, and up 9% year-to-date over 2010 ($535.4 million).
