LifeWay Christian Stores has named Jan Watkins, who runs the chain's outlet in Tukwila, Wash., as 2010 Manager of the Year.

Watkins was honored Oct. 11 during the awards banquet of the National Sales Meeting, an annual event for all LifeWay store managers and leadership, held at the LifeWay Ridgecrest Conference Center in Ridgecrest, N.C.

The Parable Group has revealed details of the marketing group's proprietary direct-mail strategy, including its average catalog response rate.

The move follows the Direct Marketing Association's 2010 Response Rate Trend Report, which showed that catalogs mailed to in-house lists generated an average 2.66% response rate-while Parable has seen a consistent average response rate of more than 16% over the last four years, company officials said.

Christian book sales down—and up Print Email

Christian book sales in September were down over the same time in 2009, but are up year to date, according to the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA).

The average decrease for September compared to a year ago for the 15 member houses reporting sales was 9.3%, the association revealed in its monthly report. The average year-to-date sales increase was 6%.

The updated New International Version (NIV)--the world's best-selling Bible translation that is being revised for the first time in 25 years--will be made available for online viewing at www.biblegateway.com and www.biblica.com beginning Nov. 1.

Zondervan-which publishes both the NIV and Today's New International Version (TNIV)--and Biblica, holder of the NIV copyright, made the announcement earlier this week at the Third Lausanne Congress on World Evangelization in Cape Town, South Africa, which has more than 4,200 participants attending from nearly 200 countries.
