EMI CMG Distribution's DVDs and music are being spotlighted in Christian Retailing's Virtual Christian Retailing Show.

Running through Labor Day, Sept. 6, the show is hosted by Christian Retailing magazine, aiming to help stores set themselves for the fall and Christmas seasons with product news, order specials and training. It is the magazine's fourth virtual trade event since debuting the innovative program following last year's ICRS.

Concordia provides back-to-school supplies Print Email

Concordia Publishing House (CPH) recently provided south St. Louis residents with more than 700 backpacks full of school supplies, hot lunches and Spanish resources in an effort to unite the community and share the gospel.

For the 15th consecutive year, CPH hosted Operation F.U.N. (For a United Neighborhood) Aug. 4. During the event, Concordia provided 750 children with a backpack full of school supplies, a hot meal and fun activities.

'Crazy Love' passes million milestone Print Email

Former pastor Francis Chan's first book, Crazy Love , has sold more than a million copies since it was released by David C. Cook in May 2008.

Chan, whose Crazy Love calls for radical devotion to Jesus, has embodied the message by donating all royalties from the book as well as all of his products to charity since by initial release, Cook officials said.

Incoming CBA chairman urges 'synergy' Print Email

The incoming chairman of CBA has urged industry members to look both ways as they plan for the future.

George Thomsen says that retailers and suppliers need to remember the past while they try to find new ways to work together in the days ahead.

"We need to revisit our past and remember why it was we got into this industry/ministry," Thomsen said in an extended interview with Christian Retailing ahead of his taking over as the retailers trade group chairman next month.

More layoffs at Focus on the Family Print Email

In the latest round of layoffs, Focus on the Family has let go 110 workers, reducing its staff to 750--and by nearly half from eight years ago.

Announcing a $27 million reduction in its budget earlier this month, the Colorado Springs, Colo.-based organization said that the move was "necessitated by twin economic challenges."
