Standard Publishing has announced a distribution agreement with STL Distribution, a division of IBS-STL UK, to handle all of the company's products in the United Kingdom and Europe.

"We are very excited to begin working with (STL Distribution) in these important European markets," said Michele McGuire, national and international accounts manager for Standard Publishing. "They do a great job of marketing, and a great job of distribution with very quick turnaround on orders. They know how to make things work."

 
Ted Dekker’s ‘Gathering’ sold out Print Email

The third staging of an event for fans of Christian thriller writer Ted Dekker is sold out this weekend.

Scheduled for Saturday, June 6, the 2009 Gathering--a Nashville-area event named after celebrations described in Dekker's "The Circle Trilogy"--is expected to attract more than 500 participants who will take part in several activities, including a Q-and-A with the novelist, drama, dance and multimedia elements.

Christian titles nab ‘ForeWord’ awards Print Email

Several Christian books have been honored in ForeWord Magazine's 2008 Book of the Year Awards.

Red Helmet by Homer Hickam (Thomas Nelson)--narrated by Kirsten Potter (Oasis Audio)--won a gold award in the Audio Fiction category, while Together: A Novel of Shared Vision by Tom Sullivan and Betty White (Thomas Nelson), narrated by Sullivan and White (Oasis Audio), nabbed a silver award and The Shack by William P. Young (Windblown Media/Hachette Book Group USA), narrated by Roger Mueller (Oasis Audio), garnered a bronze award.

Phillip LaRue song featured on ‘The Hills’ Print Email

Phillip LaRue's "Erase & Rewind" was recently featurerd on MTV's reality show The Hills, according to the singer/songwriter's label, BEC Recordings.

LaRue, whose solo debut Let the Road Pave Itself was released April 7 by BEC Recordings (EMI CMG Distribution), has had three song placements on TV shows Ghost Whisperer, One Tree Hill and Harper's Island.

 
Revised Wiersbe ‘BE’ series coming Print Email

David C. Cook will release this month eight revised editions of Warren Wiersbe's popular Bible commentaries--the "BE" Series--a set of more than 50 Bible studies that has sold more 4 million copies.

Wiersbe is an internationally known Bible teacher, former pastor of the Moody Church in Chicago and the author of more than 150 books. Baker Book House celebrates Calvin’s birthday Print Email

Baker Book House in Grand Rapids, Mich., is celebrating reformer John Calvin's 500th birthday with a couple of special events intended to draw shoppers.

The store's "Calvin: A Baker Book House Forum" on July 7 will feature a discussion between three Calvin scholars intended for what organizers call "the serious-minded theologian," while "the light-hearted Calvinist" will be the focus three days later.

An author and ministry leader who champions high standards for girls and young women has urged Christian suppliers and retailers to take a close look at their own lives to avoid any double standards in business.

"We have to be willing to examine our lives to see if there is any potential for hypocrisy," says Dannah Gresh, author of the "Secret Keeper Girl" teen series and founder of the Pure Freedom ministry. Is there "a disconnect between what we are selling and how we are living," she asks in an appeal in the next issue of Christian Retailing magazine.
