Elementary students help translate the NIrV Bible Print Email

NIrV-RosePark-webZonderkidz presented new Bibles to the fifth and sixth grade students of Rose Park Elementary School in Holland, Michigan, Dec. 10. This was a special occasion since these students, when they were third graders, played an important role in the update of the New International Reader’s Version (NIrV) translation.

In the course of two years, these young students shared their thoughts and ideas with the NIrV translation update team, which includes three members of the Committee on Bible Translation who translate the New International Version (NIV).

Christianity Today’s editorial team picked books that are most likely to shape evangelical life, thought and culture, and Her.meneutics was a new category this year.

TeachUsToWant-webChristianity Today (CT) magazine has named its 2015 Book Awards, recognizing Teach Us to Want: Longing, Ambition & the Life of Faith by Jen Pollock Michel (IVP Crescendo/InterVarsity Press) as the 2015 Book of the Year and the top Christian Living title. In addition, Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Co. received three CT Book Awards, more than any other publisher.

Winners of Christianity Today’s 2015 Book Awards are titles that judges of each category have deemed “the books most likely to shape evangelical life, thought and culture.”

Our new showroom at AmericasMart in Building 2, Suite 1338A will be a great venue to display our new intros twice each year.”

Her client roster included HarperCollins Christian Publishing, Tommy Nelson, Zonderkidz, Blink, WestBow Press, Propeller Consulting and Cool Springs Press. She carried out comprehensive promotional strategies for a wide variety of brands and products from some authors including Max Lucado, Anne Graham Lotz, Jim Cymbala, Terri Blackstock, Karen Kingsbury, John MacArthur, Donald Miller, Charles Stanley and Sheila Walsh.

Nielsen: Teens prefer print to e-books Print Email

Reading-healthlobcomTeens are known to be early adopters of new technology and digital platforms, but a new Nielsen study finds that readers aged 13-17 often choose print.

This group of younger consumers “continues to lag behind adults when it comes to reading e-books, even with the Young Adult genre’s digital growth relative to the total e-book market,” the study showed. “While 20% of teens purchasing e-books, 25% of 30-44 year olds and 23% of 18-29 year olds buy digital copies. While younger readers are open to e-books as a format, teens continue to express a preference for print that may seem to be at odds with their perceived digital know-how.”

Religious presses see September sales boost Print Email

AAPButtonLogo-webFaith-based publishers saw sales rise in September, according to the latest Monthly StatShot report from the American Association of Publishers (AAP).

For the month of September, sales of hardcover books from religious presses rose 5.2%, paperbacks were up just 0.1% and e-books increased 2.6%.

‘Library Journal’ announces Christian fiction awards Print Email

FirewallLibrary Journal has named its Best Books 2014: Genre Fiction in a number of categories, including Christian Fiction. The reviews magazine presents the awards annually to highlight select favorite titles from the past year.

Winners are: Firewall by DiAnn Mills (Tyndale House Publishers); The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron (Thomas Nelson); A Woman of Fortune by Kellie Coates Gilbert (Revell/Baker Publishing Group); Lip Reading by Harry Kraus (David C Cook); and The Legend of Sheba: Rise of a Queen by Tosca Lee (Howard Books).
