Christian books were recently honored by the Mom's Choice Awards, which recognizes authors, inventors, parents, companies and others for their efforts in creating quality family-friendly media, products and services.

Gold recipients in the Family & Parenting Books category were: The Busy Mom's Guide to a Happy, Organized Home by Kathy Peel (Picket Fence Press/Tyndale House Publishers); Parenting by the Book by John Rosemond (Howard Books); Raising Healthy Kids in an Unhealthy World by Linda Mintle (Thomas Nelson); and Raising Respectful Children in a Disrespectful World by Jill Rigby (Howard Books).

Dungy book makes ‘New York Times’ list Print Email

Uncommon: Finding Your Path to Significance by Tony Dungy (Tyndale House Publishers) placed at No. 2 on the New York Times Hardcover Advice list for the week of Feb. 12.

Released Jan. 27, Uncommon is the third consecutive Dungy book to reach the list, following his Quiet Strength (Tyndale, 2007) and You Can Do It! (Little Simon Inspirations, 2008), which hit No. 1 on the Children's Books list.

ECPA partners with electronic publishing company Print Email

The Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) has announced an agreement with Read How You Want (RHYW), an electronic publishing company based in Sydney, Australia. The partnership will allow publisher members to license books in emerging and print-on-demand formats for various reading needs, ECPA officials said.

Read How You Want provides customized book printing solutions in niche formats. RHYW takes a print-ready PDF version of any book, converting it to a wide variety of formats, including DAISY (an XML format for digital readers), commercial Braille and EasyRead large print or custom word patterns as well as the Amazon Kindle and other e-book formats.

Fireproof (Provident Films/Provident-Integrity Distribution) remained atop of the SoundScan Christian Videos list for sales the week ending Feb. 8, while Wow Hits 2009 by various artists (Wow Gospel/Provident-Integrity) supplanted Gaither Vocal Band Reunion Volume One (Gaither Music Group/EMI CMG Distribution) for the top spot on the Christian/Gospel music Christian retail chart.

After Fireproof, the best-selling DVDs were: 2. Though None Go With Me (GT Media/EMI CMG); 3. Facing the Giants (Provident Films/Provident-Integrity); 4. Crossway launches recession relief program Print Email

In light of current economic conditions, Crossway Books & Bibles has launched an initiative to help Christian retailers stimulate and drive sales this quarter.

"We recognize that things have been very difficult for many CBA retailers," said Crossway Executive Vice President for Sales and Marketing Geoff Dennis. "Crossway wants to do what we can to help relieve some of the pressure Christian retailers are feeling."

New categories for Retailers Choice Awards Print Email

Several new categories have been announced for the ninth annual Retailers Choice Awards, which lets Christian retailers give their seal of approval to the best new Christian products of the year.

New prizes will be awarded for the Best Church Supply and Christian Education products. In addition, there will be new awards for Best Backlist Product, Best Marketing/Promotion Campaign and Top New Supplier.

Marriage and family issues writer Mary DeMuth hasn't stopped at addressing the sometimes painful legacy of family secrets in fictional form in her forthcoming Daisy Chain (Zondervan, March 1).

The one-time missionary to France, now based in Texas, has launched a Web site where people are invited to post their own real-life family secrets as a step towards healing.
