EMI CMG, Gaither Music extend partnership Print Email

EMI CMG Distribution and Gaither Music Group (GMG) have agreed to extend the two companies'16-year relationship, which has seen sales of more than 22 million albums and videos.

The new, long-term agreement extends EMI CMG's distribution rights in all markets worldwide for all GMG audio and video products, including the popular "Homecoming" series and music from artists such as the Gaither Vocal Band, Bill and Gloria Gaither, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, Lynda Randle, The Isaacs and Mark Lowry.

Ron DiCianni unveils resurrection mural Print Email

Award-winning Christian artist Ron DiCianni has unveiled a major new work, which is likely to feature in gift products available through stores later in the year.

The winner of several Gold Medallions from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association for his book covers--which include the original designs for Frank Peretti's This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness--DiCianni has just completed a 12-foot-by-40 foot oil-on-canvas mural of Christ's resurrection.

ECPA recognizes significant sellers Print Email

William P. Young's runaway best-selling debut has been recognized by the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association (ECPA) for significant sales.

The Shack (Windblown Media/Hachette Book Group USA) recently received an ECPA Diamond Award for sales of more than 10 million copies via all retail channels.

Christian music's 'encouraging' signs Print Email

Sales of Christian music in the Christian retail channel dropped 2.57% in 2009, according to the Christian Music Trade Association (CMTA). Not including digital sales and focusing solely on brick-and-mortar outlets, sales decreased 4.19% in unit scans in Christian retail stores.

"Neither one of those stats is down dramatically," said Greg Bays, chairman of CMTA, which tracks the sales of Christian music. Bays added that digital music has been the "growth driver," with digital albums rising 37.98% and sales of digital tracks climbing 18.91%.

Books by Crossway, Zondervan, Harvest House Publishers, Bethany House Publishers, InterVarsity Press (IVP), Regal Books and David C. Cook are among those recognized by Outreach Magazine's 7th Annual Outreach Resource of the Year Awards, honoring the best Christian evangelism products.

Like last year, Outreach did not award one overall Outreach Resource of the Year because of the variety of the nominated resources and the subjects they covered.

The Imposter will be released on DVD Feb. 23 from Pure Flix Entertainment and distributed to Christian retail by EMI CMG Distribution.

Starring worship leader Jeff Deyo (Sonicflood) and founding member of Kansas Kerry Livgren, the movie tells the story of a popular Christian rock band--Grand Design--whose lead singer, Johnny C. (former dcTalk member Kevin Max), is spiraling out of control until he loses everything that is meaningful in his life.
