Beth Moore's So Long, Insecurity: You've Been a Bad Friend to Us (Tyndale House Publishers) debuted at No. 4 on the New York Times Hardcover Advice best-seller list for the week of Feb. 12, while another Tyndale title, Gayle Haggard's Why I Stayed, was ranked No. 35 on the New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction list for the same week.

Released Feb. 2, So Long, Insecurity debuted at No. 18 on USA Today's Top 150 Best-Selling Books list for the week ending Feb. 11. Why I Stayed, written with Angela Hunt, was released Jan. 26.

 
'Crazy Love' still atop CBA list Print Email

For the sixth month in a row, Crazy Love by Francis Chan (David C. Cook) continued to hold the top spot of CBA's March Top 50 best-sellers list. Besides Crazy Love, books on Christian living and The Love Dare-related titles were in the top 10.

Crazy Love is followed by 2. Fearless by Max Lucado (Thomas Nelson); 3. The Love Dare by Fireproof movie-making brothers Stephen and Alex Kendrick (B&H Books/B&H Publishing Group); 4. 'Screwtape Letters' receives Audies nomination Print Email

The four-CD, Focus on the Family Radio Theatre version of C.S. Lewis' The Screwtape Letters was nominated in the Audio Drama category of the 2010 Audies, announced earlier this week.

Released in October, the audiobook adaptation of Lewis' 1942 classic features Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in the "Lord of the Rings" movies, as narrator. Lewis' stepson, Douglas Gresham, hosts the production, which was recorded in London with a world-class cast and original music.

Store helps pastors impacted by arson attacks Print Email

A Christian bookstore in Texas is supporting an effort to help pastors whose study materials have been lost in a string of arson attacks on churches.

The Scroll Christian Bookstore in Tyler is encouraging donations to the Church Ablaze Pastor's Book Fund, set up in the wake of almost a dozen mystery fires at churches in the area. Supporters can buy books specifically listed by pastors who have been affected by the fires or can make general donations to the fund at the store's Web site.

David C. Cook ‘poised for further growth’ Print Email

Shrugging off the impact of a continuing dismal economy, David C. Cook announced today that book sales increased by more than 65% last year.

The Colorado Springs, Colo.-based nonprofit "achieved breakout success" with Francis Chan's Crazy Love, which has sold more than 750,000 copies, but the book was "not the only reason that Cook has to celebrate," company officials said.

Jars of Clay and Skillet nab six Dove nominations Print Email

Jars of Clay, Skillet, Jason Crabb and Matt Maher have each received six nominations for the 41st Annual Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards, while producer Wayne Haun leads all nominees with seven nods.

Nominations in 23 of 43 categories of the awards were announced today in Nashville. The winners will be announced Wednesday, April 21 at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville and taped live for broadcast Sunday, April 25 on the Gospel Music Channel.

As Christian retailers are asked to help choose the best new products of the last year, they have reason to be encouraged despite the challenges they face in a changing market.

Nominations for Christian Retailing's annual Retailers Choice Awards are up for 2010 over 2009--seen as an indication of ongoing support for the Christian retail channel from suppliers.
