Christian retailers are being invited to vote for the Christian Small Publisher Book of the Year Awards.

Sponsored by Christian Small Publishers Association (CSPA), the awards-which recognize books produced by small publishers for outstanding contributions in Christian life-feature eight categories: Fiction; Biography; Christian Living; Relationships/Family; Bible Study/Theology; Children's (4-8 years); Children's (8-12 years); and Young Adult (12 years and up).

Better Day by Gaither Vocal Band (Gaither Music Group/EMI CMG Distribution) supplanted Speaking Louder Than Before by Jeremy Camp (BEC Recordings/EMI CMG) for the top spot of the SoundScan's Christian/Gospel music Christian retail chart for sales the week ending Jan. 31, while the DVD of Better Day replaced Perfect Stranger and Another Perfect Stranger: The Director's Double Feature (Kelly's Filmworks/EMI CMG) atop the Christian Videos list.

Not surprisingly, most people in the Christian products industry predict a big shift to digital books in the next two to three years--but they have markedly different levels of participation and preparedness.

According to Christian Retailing's latest Vital Signs industry survey, the majority of retailers (86%) and suppliers (88%) believe the impact of digital books on the market will be "significant" or "very significant" in the next two or three years.

‘Hope for new beginnings’ in Haiti Print Email

Christian suppliers, retailers and music artists continue to send relief help to disaster victims in Haiti, which was struck Jan. 12 by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake, causing thousands of casualties.

Kerusso recently gathered four pallets of items--including 2,800 T-shirts and 800 pairs of flip flops--from the Berryville, Ark.-based apparel company to be sent to Haiti through Operation Compassion. Vic Kennett, CEO and president of Kerusso, said he hoped that those receiving the donations would somehow see "a hope for new beginnings."
