Nelson launches '$2.99 fiction' promotion Print Email

Thomas Nelson Fiction is introducing a new line of "first novels" for $2.99 through the Christian retail channel for a limited time. Touted as a way for readers to sample an author, the promotion features the first novel in a best-selling series--titles that typically retail for $14.99, company officials said.

Shipping Saturday, Nov. 14, the first four in the promotion includes: Chosen by Ted Dekker, Surrender Bay by Denise Hunter, Without a Trace by Colleen Coble and Plain Perfect by Beth Wiseman. Four more titles will release in March 2010.

Two Christian publishers have been named among Book Business magazine's Ten Best Book Publishing Companies to Work For.

The third annual listing--based on employee satisfaction and taking into account factors such as employee turnover, benefits and special programs--includes InterVarsity Press (IVP), Liguori Publications and FaithWords' parent company, Hachette Book Group.

Integrity Music's specials for Christian retail stores--including Light Up the World by Desperation Band--are spotlighted in the Virtual Christmas Showcase, an online exhibition and training event hosted by Christian Retailing magazine and focused on the holiday season.

More than 20 suppliers--including Thomas Nelson International, Kregel Publications and Warner Press--have so far signed on for the Virtual Christmas Showcase. In addition to highlighting products and specials, the online event also includes interviews, new release spotlights and other offers. The virtual show has drawn more than 1,900 visits from more than 50 countries since it began Sept. 30, with nearly 6,000 page views.

The faith and prayers of a widow who inherits a house being used as a foster home are central to The Lost and Found Family, recently released in Christian retail stores.

Distributed by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Provident Films, the 93-minute drama stars Lucas Till (Hannah Montana: The Movie, Walk the Line). Rated PG for drug material and thematic elements, the DVD retails for $24.99.

 
‘90 Minutes’ reaches three years Print Email

Don Piper's 90 Minutes in Heaven (Revell/Baker Publishing Group) has been on the New York Times Paperback Nonfiction best-seller list more than three years, having achieved the landmark anniversary on the Oct. 23 list.

The book about Piper being brought back to life after dying and going to heaven has spent 114 weeks at or above No. 10 in the New York Times' best-seller list as well as other best-seller charts, Baker officials said. There are more than 4.5 million copies of 90 Minutes in Heaven in trade paper, Spanish, hardcover, audio and large-print editions.
