Christian retailers, suppliers and insiders, nominate the person you think has made a significant impact on the Christian retail industry this year. It could be anyone--a new or established author or artist, a local sales representative or a company CEO. In a sentence or two, tell us why you nominated them.

Your nomination will also enter your name in a contest to win either a free registration to The Gathering 2010--a training and business event for stores to be held in Louisville, Ky., April 21-23 ($125 value)--or a free copy of the new digital Glo Bible (retail price $99.99). The deadline to submit nominees is this Sunday, Nov. 15.

Suppliers: Spotlight your new releases in 'Christian Retailing' Print Email

Christian Retailing is starting a new service that makes it easier for suppliers to get the word out to Christian retailers about their products.

We are now gathering information on upcoming releases--books, Bibles, gifts, music and DVDs/videos/software--through our new online submission service. Product information we receive through this service may be covered online and/or in print in our new-look product sections, to come in January 2010.

PrayerShop Publishing's specials in virtual show Print Email

PrayerShop Publishing is offering its specials to Christian retailers in the Virtual Christmas Showcase, an online exhibition and training event hosted by Christian Retailing magazine and focused on the holiday season.

More than 20 suppliers--including Thomas Nelson International, Integrity Music, Kregel Publications and Warner Press--have so far signed on for the Virtual Christmas Showcase. Besides highlighting products and specials, the online event includes interviews, new release spotlights and other offers. The virtual show has drawn more than 2,300 visits from 56 countries since it began Sept. 30, with nearly 1,600 unique visitors.

'Love Finds a Home' in Christian retail Print Email

Based on the eighth installment of Janette Oke's "Love Comes Softly" series (Bethany House Publishers/Baker Publishing Group), the Love Finds a Home DVD was recently released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and distributed to Christian retail by Word Distribution.

Released Nov. 10, the movie tells the story of Dr. Belinda Simpson (Sarah Jones) and her husband, Lee (Jordan Bridges), who have a strained relationship over Belinda's inability to get pregnant. The DVD retails for $22.98.

Casting Crowns' 'World' at No. 1 Print Email

The title track on the latest studio album from GRAMMY Award-winning group Casting Crowns, "Until the Whole World Hears" reached the top spot of the Billboard's AC Indicator for the week of Nov. 2, according to the band's label, Beach Street Records/Reunion Records.

To be distributed by Provident-Integrity Distribution, Until the While World Hears will be released Nov. 17. The song "Until the Whole World Hears" was the ninth career chart-topping tune for the band on Billboard's AC Indicator list.

Chuck Norris promotes Tyndale book Print Email

Famous martial artist Chuck Norris is promoting The Official Chuck Norris Fact Book (Tyndale House Publishers), which features Norris' favorite humorous facts regarding his larger-than-life action-hero persona, as well as inspiration and anecdotes from the actor-author who is a committed Christian.

Norris signed 1,000-plus copies of his book for more than seven hours from 7 p.m., Nov. 2 through past 2 a.m., Nov. 3 at Scripture Haven bookstore in College Station, Texas, Tyndale officials said.

Teen Mania launches worship label Print Email

International youth outreach organization Teen Mania Ministries has launched a new worship label, which aims to provide young listeners "with an authentic, relevant worship experience." EE-Taow Records introduced its flagship artist, Atlanta-based rock worship band Unhindered, with the recent release of Be.

"We've been hosting Teen Mania events for 20 years now, and millions of kids have learned how to follow Jesus," said Teen Mania President and founder Ron Luce. "Wherever there is a movement of God, there is music, and I began to ask myself what the soundtrack to our movement would look like. EE-Taow gives our young people a means to express themselves and become part of a larger story. It's music by teens for teens."

Bluetree launches charity to end child trafficking Print Email

Belfast, Ireland-based contemporary worship band Bluetree--whose album God of This City (Lucid Artist/Lucid Creative Services), is one the best-selling Christian albums this year--has launched StandOut International, a charity to end child sex exploitation.

Hit song "God of This City" was written by Bluetree during a mission trip while the band was on stage performing worship songs in the Climax Bar--a club which doubles as a brothel in the Red Light district of Pattaya, Thailand. Impacted by what they saw there, the band started StandOut International, label officials said.
