Inpop Records band Newworldson is among the top nominees for the 32nd Annual Covenant Awards in Canada, garnering eight nominations.

To be held Oct. 29 at First Alliance Church in Calgary, Alberta, the award show is the pinnacle event of the Gospel Music Association Canada Week, which featured a conference, artist showcases, talent-search competition and awards banquet.

Christian suppliers, distributors and booksellers traveled to Singapore and Seoul, South
Korea to take part in Christian Trade Association International's (CTAI) fifth annual Marketsquare Asia, held Sept. 6-9.

Held Sept. 6-7, the 2010 Korea Christian Rights Fair featured Kyung-Chul Park, president of the Korea Christian Publishers Association, urging publishers from the United States and other countries to seek a greater understanding of the Korean Christian market.

Lost-faith drama in Christian stores Print Email

Rust, a drama about lost faith and grace, is being released on DVD Oct. 5 and distributed to Christian retail by Affirm Films/Provident Films.

Though the 94-minute mystery stars TV actor Corbin Bernsen--who also wrote and directed it--Rust was produced and financed by the residents of Kipling in Saskatchewan, Canada, some of whom also appear on screen.

New York Times best-selling author Karen Kingsbury will host a live online event next month to launch her newest book in an effort to raise awareness and bring support to the issue of autism.

Unlocked: A Love Story is slated for release by Zondervan on Oct. 12, when the author will host "Karen Kingsbury Live"--a special hour-long event at 5 p.m. PST, to be streamed at KarenKingsbury.com/Live.

Religious book sales decline again Print Email

For the second month in a row, sales of religious books decreased in July, as overall book sales dipped by 1.3% to $1.5 billion, but were up by 8.1% for the year, according to the Association of American Publishers (AAP).

The month's sales for religious books declined 11.9% to $37.4 million, and sales were down by 0.4% for the year. Sales of religious books had risen in May, April and March, but declined 8% in June. Previously, other than a small increase in December, the religious books category had been on a steady decline since January 2009.
