Christian Store Day attracts 500 stores Print Email

Almost 500 stores have registered to participate for the first nationwide Christian Store Day, to be held Oct. 23, according to CBA.

Modeled after the successful Record Store Day that has championed independent music retailers in the past few years, the initiative to raise awareness of Christian retail stores will feature giveaways, in-store appearances and a $5 benefit CD to raise money for Compassion International, Samaritan's Purse and World Vision efforts in Haiti.

Integrity Music names vice president of sales and marketing Print Email

Integrity Music Label Group has announced the hiring of Douglas Mann as vice president of sales and marketing

Mann will report to John Coleman, senior vice president and general manager for Mobile, Ala.-based Integrity Music-whose best-selling worship artists include Kari Jobe, Lincoln Brewster, John Mark McMillan, Jonathan Nelson, Paul Baloche, Vicky Beeching, Carlos Whittaker, the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and Israel Houghton.

Mann "brings a rare combination of talents and experiences to Integrity that enables him to lead from business, creative and God-centered perspective," said Coleman.

Mann, who has a dual citizenship in the U.S. and Ireland, most recently served as senior director of marketing for books and multi-media with David C. Cook. Before working at Cook, Mann was director of brand marketing at Navpress. During the 1990s and early 2000s, Mann worked in Christian music, playing a key role in the formative years of Forefront Records, which has become one of Christian music's most successful labels.

Hachette Book Group has announced the hiring of 30-year publishing industry veteran Adrienne Ingrum as editor of its FaithWords imprint.

"She brings experience in both the general and Christian markets, has worked with a number of best-selling authors and has remarkable skills and instincts," said Rolf Zettersten, senior vice president and publisher for FaithWords and Center Street.

Ingrum has spent 14 years as a publishing consultant and book packager developing, managing and editing projects for publishers, corporations, agents and authors. She has edited manuscripts for many best-selling titles, including books by FaithWords authors Creflo Dollar and Michelle McKinney Hammond. She has consulted for Urban Ministries Inc., the largest African-American Christian publisher.

Ingrum previously held vice president positions at Crown Publishers, WaldenBooks and the Putnam Berkley Group. "I'm delighted to join the Nashville division in a position that allows me to devote my energies to my first love-editing manuscripts in a non-acquisitions role," said Ingrum. "It's a blessed opportunity to serve a team of editors and publishers I respect, and to work on topics I'm passionate about. Hachette is a terrific company, a publishing innovator and a place of new adventures for me."

 
'The Mysterious Islands' in Christian stores Print Email

The Mysterious Islands has been released on DVD by Vision Forum Ministries and Erwin Brothers Motion Pictures and is being distributed to Christian retail by Provident-Integrity Distribution.

Filmed in the Galapagos Islands, the documentary questions whether Charles Darwin was right to develop his theory of evolution from visiting the area or whether it is, as the subtitle declares, "A Testimony to God's Hand in Creation."

Mary Beth Chapman's Choosing to See: A Journey of Struggle and Hope (Revell/Baker Publishing Group) debuted at No. 16 on the New York Times Hardcover Nonfiction best-seller list published Sept. 9.

Chapman, the wife of award-winning artist Steven Curtis Chapman, co-authored the book with Ellen Vaughn--a New York Times best-selling author and inspirational speaker.
